I used to call my blog Duck! and Gather. I started it at the end of 2003. Back then, I “rolled” this site myself, messing around with php.

In October of 2005, I migrated this blog to WordPress. So the first link above contains the first two years of my blogging efforts.

Back in the early days of the blog, the theme concerned my belief that America was headed for an existential crisis that would challenge the nation’s very survival (ergo, Duck!).

A decade after I began blogging, it was clear that this existential crisis had not yet reached national consciousness. Crisis? What crisis?

But to my eyes, the root problems I began writing about in 2003 are still there, and have become more pressing over time. Seems like endless fodder for blogging.
